In Rio de Janiero's Atlantic lowlands, isolated patches of threatened tropical rainforest provide short-term security for the last wild populations of Golden Lion Tamarins, small primates native to this part of Brazil.
Their long-term future depends on re-establishing forest connections along a 35 kilometre (~22mile) corridor, linking the Poco das Antas Biological Reserve with the Rio Vermelho farm. This farm is the largest fragment of Atlantic rainforest located inside private lands in the Sao Joao River Basin.
Wild Carbon is committed to helping re-connect these forest patches and increasing the size of the Golden Lion Tamarin population in the wild, by converting carbon offsets into trees and other rainforest plants that these tiny monkeys need.
Contact Wild Carbon to reduce your footprint and help the Golden Lion Tamarins of Rio de Janiero and other wildlife in this region.
